GREYSWEET we’ve noticed your a new upcoming female DJ.
How did it all begin?
Sup ladies :) ….so i bought a pair of turntables when i was about 17 but never really focussed on getting a set together…it was the encouragement from friends (legends!) a year or so ago to play some house beats at a couple of local festivals that motivated me to take my mixing a little more seriously, instead of just messing about at after parties!
In the past year 2014 you played a set at Sun and Bass and seemed highly surprised from all the positive support and feedback.
Has this made you focus more on getting out there and DJing alot more?
Definitely! to be given an opportunity as big as that has made me realise i can reach high!! the unreal amount of support from friends, sun and bass ravers (the best kind of ravers!), dj’s and mc’s was a massive confidence boost :)
You have an upcoming set in Bristol.
Do you go with the flow on the night or already know what you want to mix on that night?
I’ve already got my mix sorted with thought to the style of foundation nights :) my mixes are a reflection of my personality so i’ve put together something that i’m going to enjoy playing and hope others enjoy too!
Do you think there is any heavy pressure on yourself due to playing on the same night as 2 top producers?
I think there is always pressure for anyone playing to a paying audience…although all the dj’s, promoters and ravers i have ever come across are so supportive to newcomers i’m forgetting about the pressure and thinking about the fun!
Is there any other upcoming DJ sets?
I’m doing a chilled drum and bass podcast for a friends record label HERE in the next few months and popping out a party mix for a friends wedding in the spring…but that’s about it for now! i also love spending my time on the other side of the decks :)
What do you wish to achieve this year?
My plan is to get some sets down in different styles as well as drum and bass…house, hip hop, funk/disco…and share them on my soundcloud so i can spread the love!!
