Mc Fokus
Considered by many to be a relatively fresh face in the world of Drum and Bass, 29 year old MC Fokus is no stranger to the stage.
Having earnt his stripes on the pirate radio and club circuit in the Home Counties, the Hitchin based lyricist emerged onto the London scene in 2004. Hosting a weekly show on Origin FM, Fokus soon caught the attention of the city’s promoters, earning himself a residency at the award-winning ‘Traffic’.
With a growing reputation he has gone on to play all over the UK and Europe, at events including Intrigue, Renegade Hardware, Fabric Live, Therapy Sessions, Dezibel and Atmosphere. Performances on Drum and Bass Arena’s ‘DNBTV’ and other radio stations, including Ministry Of Sound and Kool FM, have reached the ears of audiences around the world.
Fokus is an MC with experience and dedication. A new breed of MC whose lyrics have meaning, rhythm and substance. Recognised for his versatile and creative style, he continues to work alongside a wide range of artists; from the deep and progressive to the dark and twisted. Fokus aims to weave his voice into the music, complementing the beats without overpowering the DJ.
In his own words:
“I think it’s important for an MC in the Drum and Bass scene to evolve with the music and avoid the clichés. I like spending time on my written rhymes, but I also try to freestyle as much as possible. It’s more spontaneous and the crowd can really vibe off it. For me, a radio show is the perfect environment to chat some deeper rhymes, as people can hear every word and appreciate the story or message within the lyrics”.
