Birmingham’s DNB ravers are in for a treat in February! All they need to do is make their way to Lab 11 1st February to hear quality drum&bass played by DJ’s like Break, Octane & DLR, Xtrah, Gerra & Stone and more… Tickets are just £11 in advance and more on the door.
Drum+Basics had a couple of questions to ask the guys behind this night; Jack, Jordan, Matt and Michael who’ve been running Origins since the summer of 2012. Here’s what they had to say.
Why did you start Origins? We’ve put together these nights as we felt there wasn’t much of the music that we love so much in Birmingham. Many of the artists we like play around the UK and we hope to bring their sounds to Birmingham. The toughest thing putting together the nights would have to be gaining exposure and letting people know we’re here and what we’re about.
How’s the Birmingham club scene? For the music that we love it hasn’t been that great the last few years but seems many promoters are stepping up their game and it looks like 2013 is shaping up to be a good year for the scene. Birmingham is going to be spoilt for choice!
Who will enjoy a Origins night? Anybody that has an appreciation for bass music across all tempos and genres. Expect deep, dark sounds from Origins as well as a mad atmosphere and good vibes.
Tell us more about the choice of DJ’s. We felt the artists we’ve booked and have in mind are a great representation of the sound we are trying to push. We’ve tried to select the artists so that the sounds of the night can complement each other in a nice flow.
What’s in store for the Birmingham DNB rave scene in 2013? There’s quite a few coming up in Birmingham, in particular; Shelter w/ Sam KDC & Loxy, Prospec w/ Jubei, Seedy Sonics – Outlook Launch Party, Muzik Hertz Recordings – Official Medicine Bar Reunion Party and of course Outlook & Dimensions in the summer!
