GLXY
Tom and Jonathan came together to form GXLY back in their University days.
2015 we heard their releases on Liquid Tones and Soulvent Records,Terabyte Records + more.
GLXY track โMazeโ became part of MTAโs Winter Compilation in January 2016 & has set a solid platform for future releases.
The duo have gained support from London Elektricity, LSB, Murdock and Hugh Hardie.
GLXY have had DJ sets at many Hospitality nights in the UK.
2016 wil sure be the year that GLXY step forward and bring more pure melodic music.
Here’s a quick Q & A with GLXY.
Hey Gents,
Please let the readers know more about GLXY & how you two started producing music together?
Hey, so we met at University of Leicester where we had a residency DJing at a house and bass night (minimal DnB allowed unfortunately)!
We started messing around in Ableton at the pre drinks before weโd head out and it sort of snowballed from there.
UKF said ” GLXY are the ones to watch out for in 2016 “
Do you feel any pressure on yourselves to make sure that you both stand out from other producers this year?
I think itโs a positive pressure to have, means weโll keep trying to push ourselves and our production as far as it will go!
It’s also provided a great platform for us to grow from and given us extra motivation to develop our sound.ย
So whats the plan music wise for the rest of the year?
Releases,collaborations?
So weโve got a few remixes coming out this year including some really big names, one of which is for Steve Bcee.
Not sure we can say much more about the rest!
Weโre also just putting the finishing touches on our next EP as well which is set to come out on a label weโre really proud to be working with, watch out for that one!
What’s your opinion on other producers remixing your tracks?
Having other producers remix our tracks is always special.
Once you’ve worked on a track and gone through the process of getting it released, you can get a bit tired of hearing it.
So it’s actually really refreshing to hear another producers take on it, especially when it’s better than the original!!
Up until recently we haven’t had any remixes of our tunes but we’ve had a wicked batch in recently which I’m sure will see the light of day soon ;)
GLXY you mainly DJ at Hospitality events.
Any other events we can hear your exclusive music at?
We’ve only really started getting bookings as GLXY in the last few months, and we’ve been extremely lucky to be able to play at a couple of Hospitality events, but at the moment it’s not a regular thing.
However, it has given us a massive boost in securing other bookings across the UK and even a vibey gig in Belgium.
Big up Limitless Recordings!
In terms of future shows, we are playing this Friday (13th May) in Bristol, 18th June in London and El Dorado Festival on the 1-3 July.
Where would you like to see GLXY music at in 5 years time?
At lot can happen in 5 years!!
But the dream would be to continue pushing forward thinking music whilst working with great vocalists and musicians not necessarily involved in Drum & Bass at the moment.
That’s one of the reasons we make Drum & Bass, it’s so versatile and can take on so many different forms that your creativity is never restricted, unlike certain other genres……ย
I’ve read that you just don’t produce Drum & Bass you have an alias too.
Share some light on this please…
Well weโre both into a lot of different types of music and weโve been known to dabble in a bit of house and garage production, one of which is up on our soundcloud as a free download!
