MC DRS is a British MC/Host/Lyricalist who landed himself into a career into Drum and Bass after becoming a Resident Mc at Club Xtreme many years ago.
His versatile lyrics have gave him worldwide reconigition.
DRS has repeatedly won ” Best MC ” at the DNB Arena Awards.
DRS is also head honcho for ” ESTATE RECORDINGS ” in Manchester.
Also part of the talented ” BROKEN N ENGLISH “.
He is a well respected recording artist with plenty of past releases.
” I don’t usually like MCs but ” was a huge release and now with ” Mid Mic Crisis ” on its way we can all say from us listeners point of view, the big respect for this artist will continue long into the future.
Your music is listened to across the globe.
When you began your career did you think that being known as a international artist was possible?
Like everyone coming into Hip Hop/Dance music I just wanted sick trainers and fame.
Travelling the world and my music being received as far and wide as it has? I’d not even thought that far ahead lol
Who gave you the inspiration to kick start your musical lifetime adventure?
Lots of things inspired me musically but MC wise it was GQ, Conrad, Moose, Bassman etc
Anyone I heard at or on “Quest” tape packs. That was the place and vibe that caught my imagination.
What has been your biggest personal achievement so far?
My children Kaya and Shiloh are my greatest achievements to date! They inspire me to do better
And to be a better person!
The biggest musical achievements are both my Albums. That’s when I became an artist.
As i’ve already said your last album ‘ I don’t usually like Mcs but ” was a pretty big release on SOUL:R, and now with ” Mid Mic Crisis ” soon to be released..
Do you personally think yet again that the album will live upto the listeners high expectations?
I can’t answer that question. Haha what I can say is I feel more excited about people finally getting to hear “mid mic crisis”
Than I was about ” I don’t usually like MCs but..” But I think that’s confidence and self belief in this project. It’s more accomplished and deffo my best work to the date of the albums completion! ;)
” The View ” featuring Tyler Daley, yourself and producer LSB has now been released & the feedback you’ve had is overwhelming & seems to be a popular track at present.
What’s your favourite track off the forthcoming album?
“Mid mic crisis” for the fact alone that is my most honest work to the date. (Date of the albums completion) and honesty and being human and approachable is my whole thing?
So that’s the reason i chose that, Big ups my brother Toddla T on production. Mixed down at Big Yard studios Kingston JA.
And the legendary and amazing vibestress that is Terri Walker. Without them there would no tune! X
