Artificial Intelligence are a duo from North London Zula Warner and Glenn Herweijer.
Over the years they have had releases on Commercial Suicide and 31 Records, Full Cycle, Goodlooking and CIA. ย Also have took on remix projects, artists includeย Ericย Prydz & Kelis.
A.I set up their own record label Integral back in 2006. This was set up to support less known producers to breakthrough.
In my eyes A.I are true legends in Drum & Bass.
Here is an exclusive interview.
We have noticed that you have been Djing back to back with Zero T lately. Will we be seeing this more often?
We’ve had a few recent sets with Zero T and Steo on vocals which seem to go down well as a combo between us all. Expect to see more in 2015.
You guys have had great success over the years with consistent great releases.
Which releases have been your personal favourite?
Very hard to pick a favourite. Probably Switch On on Commercial Suicide which was a key momentin definitely in our sound. Others included Shinkansen & Won’t give up.
There’s a forthcoming release of Dillirious VIP. Areย there anymore VIPs in the pipeline?
We are always a fan of VIPs if we think it is worht while. We only create them purposely as a special for our sets however we often get our arms twisted to release them.
You occasionally work with Steo on vocals. Areย there any other vocalists you would like to work with in the studio?
We are big fans of Steo. He has some great material forthcoming including new collaboration we did with him on our forthcoming Headz EP. We would love to do something with Sampha & Frank Carter.
Is there any producer that you like at present and who we should watch out for?
Phil Tangent is right up there for us. His versatile production is getting stronger and stronger. Wait till he drops his forthcoming Integral EP which also includes very special collab with Steo. Others to look out for are SCAR, LSB, DLR.
Any forthcoming releases or events in these final months of 2014?
We have a 12inch release on Metalheadz feat Dillirious VIP which drops this November. This will follow by a full 5 track EP double pack Vinyl plus digital release early 2015 which we are excited about.
As for events we have just recently played at Logical progression LTJ Bukem at Fabric but the one to look out for is Integral Select November 15th Plan B Brixton London. Djs on the night include Break, Ivy Lab, Technimatic, LSB, Phil Tangent, Emma G plus more, also we have a very special guest lined up.
Many Thanks A.I for taking time out for Drum+Basics.
