Hey Blackfoot please introduce yourself.
Hello there!
My name is Ross Whitehead “Blackfoot” I’ve been Djing for around 9-10 years now, I first found my love for DNB when i was very young when i heard a ‘Dillinja’ track… I think it was ‘ Ja Know Your Big’ the story began from there to be honest!
I got my first pair of turntables when i just turned 14, then the weekly trips to my local record store began!
It turned into a ritual and from then on i was engulfed by the music and the scene and i have never looked back! Without Drum & Bass i don’t know what i would do!
How long have you been organising/promoting Synrgy DnB nights for?
I started Synrgy less than a year ago.
We’re all based in Milton Keynes,there was not enough local Drum & Bass nights going on so we saw a gap and decided to give it a go!
Our first event we brought Dispatch Recordings in Milton Keynes led by head honcho Ant TC 1 & MC JC.
This gave us a good starting point and foundation so we moved forward from there booking the likes of; Skeptical/Gremilinz/Emperor/
What made you want to get into promoting?
Since a very young age I’ve always loved music, it wasn’t until I was 11-12 that I got introduced to the sound of Drum & Bass! Then the i got a little older and raving become a part of my life, travelling to events all over the country, I just couldn’t get enough of it!
This made me realise that i’d love to get into running events myself so here we are… Synrgy is on its 6th event in less than a year!
Next up we’re looking forward to bringing DLR to Cambridge showcasing his forthcoming LP ‘Seeing Sounds’ on Dispatch Recordings!
Do you book artists you just like or what you think D&B fans need to watch and hear?
Good question!
So far I’ve only booked artists that i like in the scene, reason being i want to push the sound i love!
Saying this we are looking to do something a little different next year! More info soon ;)
Is this your main occupation?
I wish!!
I work as an Estate Agent 6 days a week and promote/DJ most weekends so pretty manic lifestyle! I enjoy doing both so it’s all good, some more sleep would be nice tho but hey ho!
So what can you tell us about your forthcoming Synrgy D&B night?
Well we’re going to Cambridge with Dispatch Recordings to showcase DLR’s new LP ‘Seeing Sounds’
DLR is tearing the scene apart at the moment so I’m sure the Cambridge DNB family are going to love it! Very much looking forward to it! Dispatch has never been to Cambridge so very exciting times :)
Anymore Synrgy D&B nights towards the end of 2014?
No, we have nothing planned until early next year (Febuary)
Wheels are already in motion for this event! Lots more info to be announced later this year, trust me tho… it’s going to be a big one! ;)
Then if all goes to plan I’ll be looking to start ‘Synrgy Recordings’ Later next year :-)
