We’re back at South for freshers and we’ve brought through some of the hottest names in Drum and Bass for a killer night.
Randall is one of the biggest names in the scene. A true legend pioneering the genre for over 25 years. Ask Andy C or Friction who their most influential DJ was back when they first got into drum & bass and we guarantee Randall will be top of the list. Selecting and pioneering electronic music since the 1989’s infamous ‘summer of love’, Randall was a mainstay on the London pirate stations and the many illegal raves surrounding the movement. Alongside Fabio and Grooverider, Randall was one of the main DJs who’d navigated through the rapidly morphing and developing genres from acid house to hardcore techno to jungle techno to jungle to become one of the earliest DJs to really coin the early jungle sound. Randall alongside Cool HandFlex created the label Mac2 Recordings in 1996 and it continues to put own heavy releases to this day.
Manchester’s own Sl8r has been at the forefront of the revival of Jungle. Sl8r’s been producing various styles of DnB and Jungle for around 6 years now. Cutting his teeth with Manchester based label Grand Theft Audio, his production have now been picked up by labels such as Chronic, Lifestyle, Delta9, Deep in the Jungle and DJ Marky’s RSTLSSNSS. He’s had support on his tracks from such names as Bryan G, Source Direct, S.P.Y, Ray Keith, Unglued, Ed:It, SCAR, and Data 3; having tracks featured on Radio 1 as well as Skankandbass and podcasts from Critical Music, Metalheadz and V Recordings. As a DJ he’s known for his varied selection and high energy sets, playing regularly around the UK and abroad.
