Weโ€™re back! After a perfect start to our event series in October 2021, on the 2nd April 2022 we return to the fantastic Colour Factory for another celebration of dance music & our community.

Since weโ€™ve been gone, Colour Factory has gone from strength to strength; with a diverse program really pushing the boundaries in Londonโ€™s nightlife, featuring some of the coldest DJs, artists & collectives in todayโ€™s scene, we are proud to return to the east London dancefloor.

This time, we are inviting a real inspiration in the B.A.D. office – A Guy Called Gerald. Gerald will bring is world-renowned live setup for an extended journey into the mind of someone who truly lives and breathes music. Since our conversation with him on our Voices podcast last year, we knew we had to make this happen; and we couldnโ€™t be more excited now it will.

Talking of inspirationsโ€ฆ we are honoured to invite another pioneer of dance music; artist, DJ, producer & radio presener, DJ Flight. A foundation of drum n bass, Flight has a long and celebrated career in dance music, including shows from BBC 1XTRA to the Prison Radio Association, a multi award-winning charity which runs the worldโ€™s only national station for prisoners, and aims to reduce reoffending through the power of radio. Sheโ€™s produced the acclaimed Windrush Stories podcast, and has taken her music into the art & film worlds to great acclaim. A proper polymath, coming to grace the decks, alongside MC Chickaboo.

Joining Gerald & DJ Flight is breakthrough star Sheba Q, bringing her deep, deep knowledge of jungle & clash sounds to the fore, as well as B.A.D.โ€™s very own O.N.A, a student of breaks of all shapes and sizes, bringing the heat over from his Refuge Worldwide residency. We also have one very special guest, another artist & NTS resident deeply imbued in breaks sounds from the world over, who we will reveal in good time.

Again, weโ€™re holding back a decent number of tickets for our community members at a heavy discount, for those that need them most. Feel free to get at kay@blackartistdatabase.co for more details on these.

See you in the dance!

EVENTS – INFO TO NOTE

COVID-19 POLICY

Please do not attend if you feel unwell

You will be temperature checked on arrival, as well as needing the usual registered negative lateral flow test result. Take a lateral flow test (free at pharmacies) up to 24 hours before the party and register with the NHS https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result

The venue has high ceilings, high-level ventilation and a large outdoor space.

As always we want to create a safe environment for everybody. This extends beyond our inclusivity ethos to a medical one.

Please respect people who have chosen to wear masks and other people’s space. This will be many peopleโ€™s first time back on a dancefloor in many months and we ask everyone to be considerate and kind.

COMMUNITY TICKETS

As mentioned by us previously, weโ€™re holding back tickets at a heavy discount for those members of the community for those who need them most. Hit up Kay, at kay@blackartistdatabase.co, for more info.

Special thanks to our allies for having copped the Ally tickets for a little bit extra – this small act of solidarity makes a world of difference to B.A.D. and Black people in electronic music. Big ups!

RESPECT THE SPACE

Any space we create at Black Artist Database is created with the safety of our community in mind – so it goes without saying that any racist, sexist, queerphobic, transphobic or other prejudiced behaviour will result in a straight dismissal, as well as any harassing, intimidating, violent or abusive actions. Please look out for not just your friends but anyone you can see in a vulnerable or compromising situation – if we all take responsibility for each other, we can create the world we want to vibe in!

If you need to report any behaviour making you uncomfortable, or harming someone else in the dance, speak to the Colour Factory security team, bar staff, or any of the B.A.D. team present on the night.
