14/6, Brighton. Foundations x Materials: A History of DNB with Source Direct

Geplaatst door Patterns op Woensdag 10 april 2019

Starting out as a duo and later becoming the solo venture of founding member Jim Baker, Source Direct is rightfully grounded into the UK drum & bass, hardcore, jungle, and rave scene. Producing twisted, re-stitched and visionary releases on Goldie’s Metalheadz imprint dating back to the early 90’s, as well as working closely with other Metalheadz favourites including DJ Storm, Dillinja and Randall to name a few, Source Direct has the perfect discography to showcase the evolution and history of DNB.

A sound as distinctive in the scene as Source Direct’s, there is no surprise a new generation of drum & bass producers, including Blocks and Escher, Ulterior Motive and Om Unit have drawn audible inspiration from the cinematic power and ambition of the original Source Direct sound.

More recently, Dekmantel was sent into a riot as Paul Woolford AKA Special Request went B2B with Source Direct, a highlight of the whole festival, shelling new Source Direct material which is exclusive to his DJ sets. We can’t wait.
